Season Over?

Postby Pitfitter446 on Thu Mar 12, 2020 5:20 pm

With likelihood of mass gatherings being banned will matches be played behind closed doors? or, 0-0 draws announced with 2 points to the teams? and so we finish top of the league. is this good or would we rather take the chances of defeats and catching something.?

Public health has to come first so it's the right decision. If we're on the right side of the curve by May they might have playoffs from existing league positions?

Remember the final isn't scheduled until June 20th.
Don't mention Rory Hutton. I did once but I think I got away with it.

Chief Scientific office in the UK thinks the peak is 10-12 weeks away.

There isn't going to be a final this year.

Such a shame, was looking forward to seeing Sextons miserable face as Darcy danced round him to complete his hatrick and bring up our 50 in the final, had it all planned out.

Would have been wonderful, indeed. Ah well, as we've said many times before, usually earlier in the season than this, there's always next season.

Surely they should just give us the trophy?

This could still happen...….

Sadly even if it does I doubt we will be allowed to be there to see it.

Much is made of Leinster being big game players, if it was played behind closed doors, would that diminish that instinct and not having a big support to drive them on/influence the ref? Thankfully empty, soulless stadiums is our bread and butter and we should thrive!

I don't understand why this season needs to end. Surely just start next season when they resume this one?

I'm guessing the financial hit from sponsors and TV deals is substantially less from a completed (if shortened) season than it would be from an incomplete one.

But even with these proposals the season isn't really finished. There's just been a few games and a final.

It's been foreshortened by 6 rounds but you have playoffs and a champion though. I'd think it will meet whatever contractual criteria they have to describe it as a completed season. The payback could then be based on a proportion of games not delivered rather than an entirely abandoned season.
