Dan Gamble to add at 3.

Interesting no Carmichael announcement all things considered.

Back three looks very thin. Do we have a good under20s winger this year? Sweeney?

Thanks FKL, edited to add Gamble.

Good point on Carmichael perhaps a positive sign

I wonder if we will see Kinghorn move to wing. Immelman has played at 15 all year and Kinghorn is decent on the wing.

It’s gutting to see both vdMerwe and Sau leave, but money talks I suppose.

There does seem to be an imbalance when we have so many good backrow players that we can offload two to Glasgow and still remain very strong there, whilst our backline isn’t stellar.

I hope this means that we will have to use a few of the young guys now

A lot will depend on the impact of guys like Owsley and Immelmann, who are Sau and VDM's apparent replacements. a lot may depend on what position Immelmann fits in at. On paper, we have 4 good ProXX level players who can slot in at FB or Wing: Kinghorn, Graham, Hoyland and Immelmann. They are backed up by Owsley and Blain, and it is intriguing to see if Kyle Rowe is playing for a contract this weekend.

He does look a tidy player, I assume he's really effective in 7s. Strange he never got much of a look in at Glasgow.

That's excellent news. Any chance of Hugh Dan behind the mike as they seem to be Sunday games ?

Carmichael retires on medical grounds.

Very sad for him, talented player.

Not entirely unexpected, but a very disappointing end to a very promising career. He really looked the business a few years ago when he broke through into the Scotland side.

I hope there are no long-term issues and wish him well.

Not surprising after all that time out, but it's a real shame. Better not to risk his health though.
