It's always interesting to see the comings and goings as the squad shapes up for the next season, but this time round I do wonder whether there will be a next season or not. Quite how you ensure any kind of social distancing on a rugby field is beyond me, rugby must be one of the most contact-heavy sports of all. There can't realistically be any way the current season can be completed, and I'm finding it hard to see how next season gets underway at the moment. Ok, Murrayfield must be one of the easiest stadiums for us home fans to socially isolate in, but not the players. And when you add in the complexities of international travel involved in the Pro14, I struggle to see how it's going to happen this year.
These are very difficult times for the sport at professional level, and whilst those involved like Cockers are talking confidently about our squad for next season (and what else could he do?), there must be a fair chance there isn't going to be a next season.
