Edinburgh v Ospreys - Sat 3 Oct KO 19:35

Postby The Feral Goat on Wed Sep 30, 2020 12:38 pm

I am hoping to see a strong team and good performance given we have had a couple of extra competitive matches and should be rid of any rustiness. Hopefully some of the knocks have cleared up thinking something like

15. Kinghorn
14. Graham
13. Bennett (if fit)
12. Taylor
11. VDM (if fit) or Hoyland
10. VDW
9. Sheil

8.Haining
7.Watson
6.Ritchie
5.Gilchrist
4. Toolis
3.Berghan
2.McInally
1.Sutherland

I hope you're right about Shiel and he becomes our starting 9.

I thought he did well with the 'boring' stuff against Bordeaux and hopefully he has earned himself a starting spot.

I missed the Bordeaux game so cant comment, but sounds like he played well.

Just to be a stick in the mud, I think we really missed Pyrgos in the recent games though, VDW doesn't really control a game that well and mix things up, Pyrgos is that cool head we need, so I think he is still no1. Groom and Shiel there is not much between them.

Frostwick looked good in his cameo vs Glasgow.

Agree on pyrgos and think we missed him in both knockout games, but I believe he is still not over his concussion so did not include him, so thought after his performance v Bordeaux sheil deserves to start again.

I agree Sheil should start, especially against the likes of Ospreys, more time should give more confidence and a working partnership with the 10, our other option at 9 aren’t old but younger blood needs fed in when we can, a bit like rotating the pack.

We need to pick a strong team and have a good opening win to exorcise the last two defeats. We have the depth of squad to pick a team capable of winning. We need to get our winning mentality back and play some powerful rugby. Guys need to get the heads up and be confident in what they are doing and play front foot rugby. For me the last two losses have been more about poor decision making, poor execution and lack of confidence than lack of ability, fitness or capability. Cockers needs to get them playing with intensity and controlled aggression, I am sure he will!

Teams up-sorry can't link it-but disappointing after Cockerill stating everyone but Pyrgos now fit that VDM (still) out along with Kinghorn.Ritchie also out as isolating due to family member.
