Seems to me to be too much of a stretch - although I'd dearly love to see Cockers dishing it out to Marler and Sinckler !

TRP also say Clermont may be interested in taking him back, working under Jono Gibbes. OTBS then rather pull their own rug out from under their feet by saying that actually Cockers could take his time deciding his next move.

Cockerill going to work for Jones is now widespread in the English media. Fair to say social media comment on the move is mixed . . .

He will do well as a forwards coach.

Sounds like Jones has similar management methods so that could be an interesting combo.

Maybe - see my comment above about Marler and SInckler !
More importantly the only coach Fast Eddie has left is Matt Proudfoot, who is recognised as the scrum expert, but whose official title is I believe forwards coach. Something will have to give.

Not according to his autobiography, nor that of Dylan Hartley. What are your sources?

Just guff that I read online, it's quite possibly not accurate.

The staff turnover rate at England is frankly astonishing and suggests he's not good to work for.

Richard Cockerill should be England's backs coach.

Rumour was that Proudfoot was staying in SA.

Daily Mail tweets Cockerill to join revamped England coaching staff with appointment expected to be announced next week.

Also says "Cockerill is poised to be brought into Jones's new management team with a remit to oversee the lineout and contact work — in a close alliance with forwards coach Matt Proudfoot. However, it is thought that remit may be expanded once he has become established."

I'd guess Proudfoot's coat is on a shoogly peg.

Cockerill will probably excel in a specialist role like that, I’m not sure he is a head coach in today’s game.

Cocker's move to join Eddie Jones' staff gives some perspective about all the needed changes.
He probably would have stayed if it weren't for the english job.
Hodge really was his choice as he immediatly moved on after his departure.
Still strange that Cockers left by a very small back door as he was our best coach since 2012.

He didn't get the England job though he's assistant forwards coach? And Hodge went because Blair is a backs coach?

That wouldn’t be my take on it.

He left because his time was up, his jacket was on a shoogly peg due to results and player discontent, and certain player departures may have been the final straw.

He got a job in the England setup because he was available and Jones saw his experience as being useful.

The job he has is not one that you leave a Head Coach job for.
