Another weird European format this season. This is almost designed to be unexciting with the bye weekend, the long gap until the final group game and the French teams presumably not taking it seriously. The Champions Cup group stage is even worse - 2 pools of 12 and 4 games

To he honest, the URC seems like it will be much more competitive and interesting.

Can't help feel that, once again,a Scottish club getting a raw deal-what's with starting with two away matches? By the time the home games come suspect the French will have lost interest.
Or is this just Scottish paranoia?
(Reverse those fixtures and much more interesting!)

I've been looking for an excuse to go to the new LI stadium. Be just my luck if it clashes with the LS / Richmond derby on the 15th . . . :( :(

Not the circumstances you want to see it in, but the Brive vs London Irish game being called as a draw dueto covid helps us a bit, means London Irish havent got too far ahead of us.

Brive are in dog fight to avoid relegation, so wouldnt be surprised to see their reserves coming over to us. London Irish and Pau are both mid table, so may see it as woth a proper crack. Although with the cup teams dropping down it makes it harder to win and therefore gain a qualification place, so they may see it as a distraction? Who knows.

I think will look to keep our momentum, with a bit of rotation, we may have a glut of games if the 1872 needs to be fitted in the schedule at some point. THe positive thing is we have genuine competiion in almost all areas, so not relying so much on individuals as we have in recent years.

LI game was pencilled in my diary - son lives in Fulham and daughter in Chiswick so I had accommodation relatively close all sorted. Unfortunately due to covid both are up in Embra working from home!!! I was looking forward to visiting the new stadium too.

I think this will be a difficult game, they play a bit like we do and have some good performers in the pack and in the backs. We will do well to win and I suspect if LI go for it then a LBP might be a reasonable out come. There again I thought the same about the Sarries game so who the AlainRolland knows?

I think this will be the key, we don't really need to go full noise when the top 3 in the pool go through, Sarries are winless after two games and the French probably aren't taking it too seriously. Probably important to keep a winning habit though and we need to get everyone match fit and sharp before the international period.

Yes but if you look at the rules of the comp very much in our interests to finish amongst the top 4 or at least top 8 seeds in order to get a home QF (and a possible home SF if initially amongst the top 4 seeds.)
So London Irish match pretty important given we have two home ties to follow.
Having said that still probably not that important compared to URC matches.

Edinburgh kick off around 3 on a Saturday afternoon shock - coinciding with the Scottish / Richmond derby unfortunately.

I get that Haining is an international and needs games but we have already seen a huge talent move along the M8 without seeing him do damage in burnt orange. This feels like they type of game Boyle could easily start.

Any idea what's wrong with Darcy Graham? Thought it was covid isolation last week but presumably now something else. Will need game time very soon for 6N as hasn't played for many weeks surely.
Good to see Currie getting a run-and that Bennett is rested as not on injured list.

And delighted if this means Crosbie and Kunuvalu (out all season so far?) are both fit.In which case surprised Crosbie not on the bench for this one with Boyle getting the bench spot next week at home.
