I was out all day and only caught the last couple of minutes on the BBC ticker. When the time wasting penalty was conceded with 30 secs to go I thought it was going to be another heroic failure.

Of me of little faith.

Didn't see that result coming, humble pie for me. Right up there as one of our best ever results, terrific stuff.

the experience for the likes of savala, Hutchison, Blain, sykes may be even greater than the win. How much confidence should savala have on the back of 75mins directing the team to an away win against a decent sarries team.

Great stuff

Great result and will give the squad a boost knowing they can rest a few and dig out a quality win.

Brilliant result and boost to confidence. Probably as good a performance from an Edinburgh pack as I have seen for some time . Conditions were atrocious and maybe levelled up some elements of the game and without Bofelli’s magnificent goal kicking Sarries might have edged it especially as they really should have score at the death. Takes nothing away from the achievement and the grit of this performance. Also , pleased to see Savala deliver a much more assured performance . Was it best result since Toulouse.. ? No ! By some distance Beating Toulon in France in a more significant competition, in good conditions is still out there with our victory over Toulouse .

Will be interesting to see how this impacts on selection for future games. A few players seem to have put their hands up. Sykes and Corsbie are making it very hard to leave them out at the moment

I see Watson and Lang went off at half time (or just after) were the y injured? Or was Blair just convinced it was job done and have them a rest?

Both Lang and Watson were injured apparently . Watson in particular was immense as was Haining . Bradbury when he came on and was excellent. Hutchinson likewise did ok especially in defence where Lang had missed a few tackles in H1. There was virtually no attack through hands in the backs given the conditions.

Don’t get the comparison with Toulouse tbh as this was not a great match but a very gritty and historic win edged by the classy place kicking of Bofelli and phenomenal front 5 performance.

Comparison with Toulouse as we've not beaten a team of Saracens standard since Toulouse. The cup run we had with cockers Newcastle got relegated that year and both Montpellier and the other french side were awful.

Also, those saying without cockers wed lose our toughness ... This is the toughest I've seen Edinburgh in a long long time.

Fairly limited highlights ( for example shows the Sarries prop being shown the YC, but not the actual offence, and no footage of the end of game incident ) in the twitter insert here :

Superb win though - hadn't realised till after the game that Itoje played after all.

Yes with Itoje starting Sarries were missing-Farrell,Maitland,Koch,George and (arguably) Swinson from their strongest team (Wray and Davies benching).
We were missing Graham,Hoyland,Kinghorn,Mata and Ritchie from our likely 1st XV -so pretty even on that score.
(I believe all these were injuries with only Koch resting.)
