v Leinster Friday 6pm

Postby liveinhope on Mon Feb 07, 2022 1:56 pm

I wonder how much we will be affected by travelling reserve requirements for Wales on Saturday. It was easy on Saturday with no URC games but both Edin and Glasgow are playing at the weekend . I suspect Bennett,Vellacott,Cherry and Haining will all travel to Cardiff even if not in the 23.This will leave us pretty light on top of the likely 7(plus the injured Ritchie) in the matchday 23.
Any idea if Crosbie how long Crosbie was expected to be out-could use him on Friday with only Kunuvalu,Boyle and Muncaster likely to be available.

Think we could get Vellacott, Bennett and Haining back (although Townsend does love him some Haining). Would be surprised if Bennett was sent down to Wales with Scotland at least. Oh and Hodgson.

Worst case scenario, but with no new injuries

Venter, McBurney, Williams, Young, Sykes, Muncaster, Boyle, Kunavula
Pyrgos, Savala (it'll be Jaco), Boffelli, Hutchison, Currie, Owsley

Harrison is with the 20s, no idea who we could have for the 16 jersey. Courtney, Atalifo, we're struggling for a lock replacement too. Morris for back row? Dean, Savala, Shiel

We don't know the fitness status of Lang or Crosbie, it would be good to see either/both of them this weekend

Pro teams get players from the 20s if those players are needed. Harrison will be with us.

Be difficult enough with 15 players, never mind 14.

Well done, Pike. I was wondering how long it would take someone to notice that
(oops)

Harrison has been named in the U20s side for the weekend, so perhaps we will get Cherry back.

If he's needed in Cardiff at the last minute, there are direct flights from Dublin to Bristol on Friday evening and early Saturday morning 8)

Pleased for him, but Cherry's call up was a bit odd. Ritchie and Bayliss not fit, bring in a hooker. Not aware of any problems with the hookers already in the squad. Have I missed something ?

( Maybe to teach our props how to throw in at a line out ? )

Cant see us getting Vellacott back, we are covered anyway with Pyrgos and Shiel, Cherry possibly as an emergency cover on the bench.

Any news on Crosbie, Lang, De Bruin or Hoyland? De Bruin in particular would add a lot ( I undrstand the irony given my previous comments on the need to develop Scottish props in these games!

Really surprised Mark Bennet is not there. Hard to understand why Johnson was released.

Young Kwagga is still on the radar then, although I thought Sam Daly was the better of the Watsonians backrows in the Super 6.
