Watson and Schoeman are the big surprises, though I don't think they will play next weekend. None of the other internationalists have had enough game time through the 6N so they need to play into match fitness and form for the rest of the season. Kinghorn needs to show the maturity to blank Saturday afternoon out of his mind.

Good to see Sykes is fit enough to travel.

Stronger squad than expected given injuries and 6N players.Obviously must have lost Kunuvalu from Friday's match adding to our back row woes -so its good that Bradbury and Watson are there .I understand Sykes can also cover at 6.
Going to be very hard out there with the SA sides looking very strong at home now-don't think any of the "home " sides have had a win out there yet, even Munster losing both games in the past fortnight.

Couple more quick thoughts:

There are 17 forwards listed, 6 of which are props and 3 are hookers. Normally, 13 are stripped on match days meaning there is one spare 2nd/back row forward for each game. This week, that will be Mish, so we have to assume that Sykes is fit enough at least to bench straightaway,

Given Schoeman's heavy playing schedule in the 6N, it looks like he is having to travel because there is no one else. Assume Grahamslaw is still unfit. I would be surprised to see Schoeman playing at all on this trip.

There is a heck of a lot of versatility from 11-15 in those backs. Given the wingers can play on either side, I think only Currie is the only one that's technically played in a solitary position, as I can only remember him playing 13.

Decent squad. I think most of those away with Scotland were rotated. Gilcho and Watson aside.

Is Mcinally injured? I didnt think he had an overly heavy workload. It could just be we have 3 other options and its a chance to rest him.

Agree on Schoeman, but he is pretty fit and didnt start the first game, so with the break week its not like he was flogged.

Kinghorn feels very important to us now, VDW just didnt get the backline moving last week.

Not sure we will win many points but it should be a good experience for all the guys, especially the younger ones and should help further develop the group of players. Important to have some experienced heads in the party. Touring is a great way to get to know everyone and for the guys to work hard, play games but also have a bit of a laugh too. Whilst not a proper 'tour' it should be a positive experience for them. I'm sure Blair is going to make the most of the opportunity in terms of the squad. It will be interesting to see the games.

Just about our first choice backline other than Owsley who looked like his pace could be a useful weapon in his solitary appearance so far.

Tasty backrow!

We need our defence to be on top of their game and our accuracy at the breakdown to be a lot better than it was against the Weegies.

If we get some good ball that backline is quick!

Looks a happy camp on Social Media clips but did it really take 27 hours to get there ? That is an embarrassing travel itinerary these days. Used to go there regularly up until a few years ago . 16 hours max for Scotland.

Anyway, fascinating match snd wishing them the best.
