Agree it looks very strange.

For a TJ to bring it back that far he would need to be very sure. It seemed 50/50 at best, was in the middle of the field, so a huge call from the TJ.

Apparently 42nd minute, anyone got a recording?

Quite strange to have a citing for something whijc wasn’t picked up during the game. Given all of the nonsense we have seen with light bans no doubt he will end up with a stupidly long one!

Anyone seen a clip of this?
Couldn't happen at a worse time after the injuries to both Venter and de Bruin on Friday night? Again anyone have news on any update on them? Given we've been operating on very low back row stocks for a long time this would be a huge blow just when we have a long run of big games coming up.

Not a big fan of players barrelling into contact with their head down and our player getting cited.

Jeez that is a citing given some of the horrors that get let go.

Pau player is head down not looking, pre latched to ball carrier.

Nel has just stood his ground...3 weeks rounded up to nearest 10 I imagine.

Hard to tell from that angle, but looks like a fair argument for shoulder to shoulder initially with an attempt to wrap and no excessive force?

Certainly at the lower end of the scale which we have seen nothing given for. Thinking Basham and abour 30 SH players recently!

I’ve slowed it down and paused it at point of contact, looks like shoulder direct to head. Odd it wasn’t picked up at the time and would be annoying if lengthy ban given some of the horrors around at the moment and some that have got away Scot free (Basham, Willemse, every Farrell tackle etc) but does look like a case to answer.

Which, purely on the basis of the bloody pulp of an outcome, was much worse.

I’ll be seething if, based on that, WP cops a ban even if he has a case to answer. Either enforce the laws or don’t. And, if you don’t, prepare for the game to disappear under a blizzard of lawsuits from those suffering the long term consequences of head injuries.

As usual, a complete lack of consistency from one decision to another - see Jamison Gibson-Park being absolved with no punishment for an arguably more grievous offence just a few hours earlier. TonySpreadbury stuff.

Ridiculous-but presumably Edinburgh decided not worth the risk of trying to contest it (so would have lost the chance of reduction).Means he's free for the Ulster game assuming he does the "coaching course".
