Cheers DIsco. Question outside of Watson and Ritchie have any of the other back rows played 7?

Wilson's played there a fair bit for Glasgow. Harley has 7 starts at openside for the Warriors. Fagerson played 7 for Scotland u20s although all his games for Glasgow have been at 6 or 8. Bradbury had to start at openside for your semi-final against Munster after you broke all your 7s! Blade Thomson appears to have started there once for NZ Maori. There was a mad spell for Bath when they had so many number 8s they started David Denton in the number 7 shirt - not something I ever fancy seeing for Scotland!

All bits and pieces though with Wilson the most likely to cover if required I would guess.

I seem to remember reading that Denton played very well for Bath at 7, but I assume he wasn't playing as a traditional openside.

Just for fun. Moving through the 1st set of internationals (the ones outside of official AI window), if we can get a win in Wales and South Africa beat England at Twickenham (alongside NZ beating AUS and Japan in Japan and Ireland beating Italy), we go into 4th place in the rankings behind NZ, IRE and SA. England would drop to 6th. A couple of if’s there but our highest ever ranking at least in reasonable sight!

Nice work again disco but on reflection, you could possibly have spared us the bits about our record in Cardiff this century and under this referee! Sometimes less is more

I'm all about lowering expectations - then the joy is even greater when we do win!

Decent side all things considered.

Toolis over Gilcho starting is perhaps a surprise but you'd think it was for us to really go after their lineout.

Really pleased for Ritchie and Graham

Think Messrs Ritchie and Wilson will wind Moriarty right up, cant see him getting through the game without a cheap shot and a card.

Head to heads plus essentials like - who is Toony's teacher's pet (most minutes played - although he'll be missing this weekend) and the top try scorers of the Townsend era.

That was poop.

Few things.

I don't think the Toolis, J Gray combo gives us enough carrying grunt from the second row. Really need a gilchrist or R Gray in there.

Back row combo didnt have the right balance for me I think we really missed barclay he appears to compliment watson better and then number 8 we can be a bit more flexible.

In saying that if Bradbury had been fit think he would have compensated for the weaker 2nd row.

Tough day at the office for the Hastings but will hopefully be a good learning experience.

Everyone needs to be a bit more streetwise, Welsh were dull and offered very little but won.

Plenty of room for improvement and to work on.

Didn’t watch, glad I didn’t. Agree with you about carriers. The only ‘heavy’ carrier we had today was McInally and that’s not enough. R Gray / Gilchrist / Bradbury required I think.
Don't mention Rory Hutton. I did once but I think I got away with it.
