Hope they do well.

Jade Konkel is injured, I believe.

Along with a few others. Louise Macmillan looks like she might be out for the whole tournament. Those two will be missed, but the players who have come into the squad to replace them are all capable of doing the job required.

They've developed a lot over the past three years. Hopefully they can start to believe in themselves and get the results that their efforts deserve.

Frankly disappointing performance. Having weathered the storm in the first half and then seized the momentum going in to the half, Scotland failed to capitalise fully on a period when Italy were down to 13, wasting time hitting rucks that were already lost and allowing Italy to dictate the tempo.

And don't get me started on the officiating.

Scotland 7 - 28 Italy.

agree with all of that. Officiating was poor, not biased just poor technically I thought.

Earlier Is see you say we had players who could step up for eg Konkel. I think she is not replaceable and Scotland are a much much weaker team without her, lack go forward carrying which she does so well.
Also did Megan Kennedy go off early?

Stand out player was the Italian 7, I thougth had she changed sides the result would almost have been reversed

Rare that I agree with you :). Yes, technically poor not biased, but that's an insult to both sides to put such a poor set of officials in charge of an international game.

There are players who are capable of stepping up. That they don't is a mind-set and rugby intelligence problem in my opinion.

She came off after 65, although she had a 10 minute break early in the first half for a frankly ridiculous yellow card. I don't think there is an injury worry there.

Their 10 and 13 were good too with some deft touches and good running lines - something that our guys lack.

A poor performance last night from the Scots, with a defensive structure that was way too passive to deal with a big set of Irish forwards. When Scotland did get hold of the ball themselves, that same lack of aggression and work rate meant it was slow which made things all the harder. This team looks a lot less sharp than it did last season.

It's France away next up (in Lille) which is only ever going to be an exercise in damage limitation. If they play like they did last night, the damage will be great.

Outmuscled in the scrum quite badly - although penalised several times simply for being pushed backwards by a referee who had already decided which way that particular contest was going, but held their own for a good proportion of the close encounters.

Much better performance than against the Irish, but structural issues with the defence let the French around the outside too often. France were deserved winners (41-10) but scoring two tries against the French for the first time in I-don't-know-how-many years was a real positive.

If only the women would play with that level of intensity against the Irish, Italians and Welsh. They seem to drop to the lesser level too easily at the moment.

Grieve in for Law (injured), Forsyth for Cockburn with Kennedy switching sides, Malcolm into the back row with Bonar moving to second row, Howat to the bench and Winter dropping out of the squad.

Looking for the same level of performance that we saw in France two weeks ago. Given that, this should be a win. Anything less than that and it will have been another season of ifs, buts and maybes.

Another season of ifs, buts and maybes.

If they'd caught the last kick off cleanly, if they'd not been on the wrong side of the last 50:50 penalty, if they'd got just one of the 3 missed conversions....

As anticipated, professionals against amateurs was never going to end well. Just shows the gulf between the haves and the have-nots in the women's game.

And now that Shade Monro is moving on, we're at a cross roads. Hopefully the powers that be will move heaven and earth to build on what he developed and give our women a serious chance to compete that's built on proper investment.
