Cork for the Weekend!

Postby munstermad on Thu Feb 18, 2010 5:26 pm

Hey guys,

If you thinking of coming over to Cork for the match this Friday, then don't forget to check out some of our great pubs. These are just a few below based around the Washington St. area, at the centre of Cork city!!!

The Classic Bar & Club Classic
1-3 South Main St.
By day The Classic Bar is a relaxing, open plan bar with high ceilings and Cork memorabilia on the walls. By night The Classic Bar is a late bar with regular live music, a big screen for matches and a fantastic atmosphere. Above The Classic Bar is the Club Classic nightclub. With two floors, on-trend décor and some of the best DJ’s in Cork, Club Classic is one of Cork’s most popular clubs. Open Monday to Saturday 11pm – 2am

Anyone wearing the Edinburgh jersey gets a complimentary pint at The Classic Bar on Friday night after the match.

The Raven
Paradise Place,
100 South Main St.
A drinking establishment has been trading on this spot since the 16th century. Now an old pub revamped as a funky nightspot, this small, blue bar has big windows that look out onto one of Corks oldest street. It has an extensive range of beers so when it is your round there is plenty to choose from.

Cavanaghs
7-8 Liberty St.
Situated next to The Raven, this is a lively student bar during the week while at the weekend, it enjoys a good mix of clientele. Hosting live music or comedy nights, there is always something going on in this cosy but surprisingly spacious bar. And with an excellent outdoor smoking area with its own bar you will be never be too far away from the action.

The Courthouse Tavern
Cross St.,
If it is a traditional watering hole you are looking for, then you can’t go far wrong with The Courthouse. This long narrow pub, situated next to the city courthouse, is usually jam packed at the weekends with loud music and a heaving bar. Mid-week is a more relaxed affair with a few regulars generally keeping the stools warm.

The Washington Inn
30/31 Washington Street
The Wash, as it is fondly known, has been a part of the Cork pub scene for many years. A favourite with the staff from the surrounding offices during the weekday, from Thursday to Sunday it is usually full to the brim with a mix of students, GAA enthusiasts and the like.

There are loads of other pubs and plenty of restaurants in the area and we would love to wecome ye to Cork - win , lose or draw :o)

Best of Luck!!!
