Connacht fan trying to contact the supporters club committee

Postby ummm, on Thu Jul 12, 2012 12:27 pm

Hello,

I tried to send a message to the supporters club via the "contact us" page but it got bounced.

I'm currently compiling a list for the Connacht Clan (the Connacht Rugby supporters club) of places to go/stay in each of the away venues we will be visiting this year.

We would rather have places that have the official thumbs up from the supporters clubs, that way our fans can pay back into specific parts of the local communities we visit that we know are doing their bit for rugby in your area.

I saw that you have a visitors guide and I'll use that as a starting point for grabbing information but I also thought I'd ask if your supporters club has a list of preferred bars, restaurants, cafes, hotels, hostels & B&Bs; that are in some way affiliated with Edinburgh Rugby and we should give pride of place to?

Any and all info greatly appreciated!

Hi skovdahl79

Thanks for the response.

We're currently getting our own list together for fans visiting Galway and will be releasing it before the season kicks off (hopefully) so once it's done I'll definitely let you guys know.

I haven't any other contact details, I'm afraid, I've been going through the 'contact us' pages on each of the supporters clubs pages. Have to say, so far the response has been pretty poor!

Leinster and Cardiff Blues have made the best efforts for visiting fans

Blues visitor info

Leinster Dublin guide is on this page

The rest of us are all playing catch up I guess :)

The Murrayfield Hotel does things with ERSC like show away games I believe, there are also bars in Murrayfield.

I'm not from Edinburgh so use the pubs between the station and the ground.

Hopefully someone else will give you help with a more informed post than mine.

Great idea if all clubs post info for visiting fans.

The Edinburgh Rugby Supporters Club site does have some really good info, but some of it is a little out of date (seating in West Stand of Murrayfield, buses a £1). I happy to help review if anyone's looking for volunteers.

ummm, you posted during the Edinburgh Trades holiday when a lot of people are away, and also at a time when the committee is re-organising. We're planning on doing a similar guide, so if you could PM me your details we'll keep you in the loop. We've been hoping to try to forge stronger links between all the Supporters' Clubs, so this could be a good start!

Hi Loops,

Yeah, it's the same for us, reorganisation and downtime. But that's the best time to get stuff ready for next year, I guess

While I'm a member of the supporters club I'm not a committee member so talking to me won't get you very far :) To introduce yourselves to the Connacht supporters club the committee's details are here http://connachtclan.com/about-the-clan/clan-committee

If you guys haven't made it over to Galway before I highly recommend it, great party town, plenty to amuse yourself with and lots of rugby mad folk you can while away the early hours with in deep discussion of the correct spelling of whisk(e)y. And bring your golf clubs.

Thanks for that! We'll give them a shout and see what can be done about getting more ties between all us supporters. :)

Hello again

It turned out our plans for a handy guide was were bigger than our stomachs and it took quite a while for everything to come together, but I thought I'd let you know that the Clan now have an App available on the App Store, which includes a Galway guide for visiting fans.

I know it's a bit too late for you guys this year after you've already been over and committed daylight robbery in Galway (ahem!) but it'll be there for you when you come over next year.

Just search for "Connacht Clan" on the App Store, or go here https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/connachtclan/id556458559

I'll be adding an Edinburgh map for our fans for when we're over in April, so as always, any pointers on what to include there would be appreciated.
