Thought I'd start a few threads about games we're considering travelling to, just to let people know they won't be alone if they're thinking about it

A couple of us debating going over for the Connacht game in January. A winter weekend on the west coast of Ireland, what more could you ask for!

Ryanscare showing £15 each way for the flight, Bus to galway €12 each way, nice and cheap and easy.

Last time I looked, you can't fly direct to Galway from Edinburgh...so I don't think AerArran are going there anymore...not from Edinburgh anyway! :s

Biffer's put me right in the mood to get off my erchie and start going to some away games and a wee trip to Galway seems a good way to start.

Any recommendations on where to stay, eat and drink?

Also, where's the best place to sit/stand in the Sportsground.

We've stayed in the harbour and the Forster the latter is good as it's closer to ground and has a proper pub not just a hotel bar which stayed open as long as we were buying

Travelodge is pretty close to the ground it seems.

As for bars, we're making the assumption that it's Ireland, so there won't be a shortage.

Ok, we're on for this, five of us going I think. Fly over on the Friday back on the Saturday both times to Dublin.
That wee guide produced by the Connacht fans points out a few decent pubs, so if anyone else is going we can pick a pub at meet up in it pre game.

This one should be fun, if we all make it back alive...

Hi Folks,

I went to the recent game in Galway. My mate and I were the only away fans (we certainly didn't see any other Gunner's fans).
The whole experience (apart from the result) was great. People were really friendly, there were no issues relating to wearing a kilt. If anything it opened doors rather than closing them.
For anyone who hasn't been to Galway it is well worth the effort. So much so that I wouldn't make the effort to go to Dublin again for the Scotland game. Much more positive experience in Galway. Prices were much better too.
