Who's going?

Glasgow were there last year so there's some info on their thread about that game here

http://www.glasgowwarriors.com/phpbb/vi ... =2&t=10209

but if it's me asking for info over there I'll probably get advice that'll end up with me on a minibus to Krakow.

Our respective supporters clubs are in contact with each other and Glasgow supporters club has been in touch to pass on any info they can.

Glasgow have recommended a pub for lively evening socialising and Montpellier have invited our supporters to join them for a meal, some beers and some coffee. They would probably organise this and it would only cost supporters sufficient to cover their costs - apparently no more than £10.

We'll post further info as we have it.

We went (quite) a few years ago with Bristol. Flight to Beziers and then train to Montpelier. Nice compact town centre with loads of bars and restaurants in the main square and just off it. The tram will take you to the stadium although if you fancy a walk it's not that far from the centre. Fair number of hotel options as far as I can recall. We stayed in an Ibis very close to the centre which was very handy for getting out and about.

The one thing that sticks in my mind is that the bar under the stand had a great atmosphere but they had that weird system where you paid for your drink at one part of the bar, got given a token and then had to take it to another part to hand it over to get your drink. Hopefully that might have changed/improved in the intervening years.

I Just bought the travel package that ER and Thomas Cook are doing. Not thrilled at not having a hotel stay after the game but getting the charter flights and included transfers saves hassle with organising my own transport. Might be good fun getting a flight with the players.

Isn't that travel package only for a Friday night stay then a late flight home after the match on the Saturday night?

Yeah, it is which is a pain, Fly out mid-morning on the 12th, airport transfer to 3* hotel, then the rest of the day is free, breakfast included the next day then bus from the hotel to the match, can't find the bit where it said the level of ticket but i think it was the 2nd level ie gold instead of platinum then after the match another bus from the match to the airport, possibly via hotel for baggage? Late evening flight landing on Sunday early AM.

I could probably do something better if i planned it myself but being on the same flight with the players (possibly the same hotel?) then getting a seat amongst other fans (i imagine the ticket will be part of a block allocated to ER) was too tempting to miss. And chances are we wont be going out to celebrate a shock win!

We're doing Edinburgh to Beziers via Stansted on the way out, direct flight back from Beziers Sunday. Two nights in the ibis. Works out about £70 less than the official package mainly because of the basic hotel, but I only need somewhere to fall over at night.

3 of us are making the trip. We are going the Wed to Sunday - flying to Bezier and getting the train to Montpelier.

I have booked an apartment through AirBnb in the centre of town.

We were going to wait to find out about the official trip but return flights for £50 each was too tempting and allows us to spend a bit more time in the area.

Looking forward to our first away trip supporting Edinburgh

Just got this email from Thomas Cook:

"Thank you for booking on Thomas Cook Sport’s away trip to Montpellier with Edinburgh Rugby for the Heineken Champions Cup.

There has been a change to the ticketing for this fixture, and a ticket will no longer be added on to the travel package you have already purchased.

The ticket must be purchased separately, directly from Edinburgh Rugby here

We look forward to taking you to France!"

The package was dubious value for an individual (£369) when the ticket was included, having to fork out another £40-60 is unacceptable. I've sent them an email demanding a refund, unsure if i'll go at all as being on the teams plane and sitting in a block of Edinburgh fans were the main selling points for me.

Agree it’s not right to change it after the fact, however I’d suggest two things:

1) I’d have thought Edinburgh Rugby could cover the supply the tickets. There can’t be that many fans on the plane given the size of the travelling squad ensemble, and they do get an allocation to sell, presumably they’re not paying face value to Montpelier for those.

2) Tickets start from €8 for standing. Not everyone likes to stand, but there’s normally a good atmosphere.
