After the success of "You cannae shove yer Granny aff a bus" in Paris last week, could I suggest some variations that might be equally successful?
"Ye cannae shove Visser aff a try."
Ye cannae shove Chunk out a scrum.
................... Mossy off a kick.
...................Jimbo, full stop.
And my personal favourite, suggested by Baz as an Edinburgh v Glasgow song:
Ye cannae shove a Weegie aff yer seat.
Suggestions for more verses eagerly anticipated! One verse of each of the team, plus a chorus, should keep us singing for most of the match.
I was quite sorry no-one joined in the Doh a Deer rendition near me, but maybe next time! (Nigel, we need you!)
One of the Stade supporters last week was telling me that they have about four Supporters Clubs, and each one is responsible for a different area of the stadium. They have members down at the front of each section with drums,etc., and they are the people who start off the singing or chant. In our area the guys doing the leading were wearing different hats from the rest, and they stood up to let everyone see when they were about to start singing/chanting. They also kept the youngsters in the area right with rugby etiquette - like not chanting when a player was down injured. The Stade support were amongst the best I've come across, the atmosphere was much more like it used to be in rugby, with the support applauding good play on both sides, and very definitely
supporting their team, not being rude to the other side ( naming no names, but not like the Ulster support
)
So, lets keep plugging away at getting the sound levels up. The noise was deafening in our area when the team started to get the ascendancy, so our next step is to try and get that all the time!
