Edinburgh song (again)

Postby Debaser on Tue Aug 21, 2007 5:46 pm

Yes I know we've been here before but surely with all the stuff we've been put through recently we can manage a decent protest Edinburgh chant. I'm sure someone of higher intellect and more wit will come up with a better one but all I can muster is "CENSORED" Yes I agree not exactly going to win any awards so please someone come up with a better one which will embarrass those people sitting in their ivory SRU towers.....
There's going to be less of us and it's going to be a long tough season so we'll need something to cheer us up.
Incidently I still like the "we're fast we're loose our Mascot is a Moose one...

I would like to remind all people posting that libelous & defamatory comments may end up with this forum being closed & legal action being taken.

A team song was found and the team sung it in training. it was filmed for ertv but never shown.

Sadly it will probably never come to fruition now as it would be seen to be linked to the BC Edinburgh.

Talk about spooky! A friend, who wishes to remain nameless, e-mailed me a song they had quickly adapted today. I thought it was good! To be sung to the tune of Flower of Scotland :

Oh rugby in Edinburgh (may have to be shortened to Embra to fit!)
When will we see
Your likes again
That fought and strived to be
An independent team

That stood apart from them
Those SRU madmen
But got sent backwards
To start again

The seats are bare now
And tears have fallen and dried
For the days that are gone now
And for the team that tried

To stand apart from them
Those SRU madmen
But got sent backwards
To start again

Those days are past now
and all the past is put behind
for we can still rise now
and be the team to mind

and we?ll stand apart from
the SRU madmen
and move forwards
to start again

Any re-tweaking of the words gratefully received.

Return to Sender

I sold my club to the Carruthers,
Money they didn't lack.
Bright and early next morning,
I wanted my club back.

I reneged upon it
Return to sender, contract unknown.
No such number, no such loan.
We had a quarrel, a financial spat
I write I'm sorry but I want my club back.

So then I raided the moneybox
And sent it to the Weegies.
Bright and early next morning
He wrote back to me.

Control, I'd foregone it
Return to sender? To idiots well known?
No such person, no such so.

This time I'm gonna take it myself
Right out of his hand.
And if it don't come back the very next day
Then Stephen Larkham? Aint no way!

Return to sender, bar takings unknown.
No such number, no such loan.

In light of our New Badge i was thinking wee could chant

"I'm / We're the King(s) of the Castle & you're the dirty we rascal (or something else)"

I remember this from my childhood days [which were not that long ago]

If we manage to build up a few home wins this could be a winner! Although also asking to be knocked off our castle rock!

One Edinburgh

Postby hingwy on Mon May 18, 2009 7:37 pm

Well done the lads yesterday. If we are going to make the most of this second place high and have something to sing the team into the winning position next year.....sorry if this was already suggested all those years ago when this topic started....how about "One Edinburgh" to the tune of Guantanamera? Very short, simple, well known tune and no forced syllables:

One Edin-burra
There's only one Edin-burra
One Edin-buuuuurra
There's only one Edin-buuuura

If the club could get the squad of players and as many hangers on as possible into a room and record a rendition sound bite, this could be played on the speakers at Murrayfield at the appropriate moments, say just after the big beat pop song that accompanies a home try, then I'm sure it would gradually catch on and not be needed on the speakers any more.

It could also be used for flashes of brilliance from certain players on occasion, although hard luck for the ones without the right number of syllables.

One Nick De Luca...
One Mikey Blaira....
One Johnny Houston...
