We put away a bad side fairly easily which again is a great sign.

Some great play at times given the conditions and leads us into the ECC games in fine fettle.

Thoughts on Fowles and Kennedy?

Fowles is getting some criticism over on the Glasgow forum for being too slow to get the ball away ("Laidlawesque"? "Laidlawian"?), but I thought his passing was fast and precise (although I won't pretend to have been paying that much attention), especially given the conditions.

Fowles is just another player they like to slag off

Some would also think that comparisons to a player shortlisted for World Rugby Player of the Year were complimentary.

Weegies think it is imperative for a scrum half to play with their hair on fire, anything less and they are slowing the game down. Which is Glasgow problem in a nutshell, they don't know when it is and isn't on they just go for it no matter what. Their backline with more game management would be lethal. As it stands they get picked off by big teams who know what is coming.

I'm not a fan of Fowles generally but he was fine last night, it wasn't a night for throwing the ball around.

I thought Fowles was good for the conditions - accurate passing and some structure.

I thought Fowles was a bit slow at the breakdown. He didnt really do anything wrong but didnt exactly help keep the pace up when required. Kennedy certainly brought some extra speed to the ball from the breakdown when he came on. Kennedy looks a lot fitter than before he got injured, he looks leaner and faster over the ground. He made a difference when he came on the pitch.

Solid all round performance once we got to grips with how the ref wanted the game played. I was quite impressed with Van der Walt, who's handling and kicking was good given the conditions. Thought he got the outside backs moving well, and looked willing to make the occasional break. Looks a good addition to the squad.

Professional performance.

Like Van der Walt, he's no Finn Russell but he takes the ball to the line well and has a crisp and accurate pass, evidenced for the VDM try. Loved Gilcho's footwork, Watson and Toolis showed up well and the props a) held their own and b) weren't injured.

I see Kinghorn now tops both the Pro14 metres gained (1088, Piutau second on ~800) and defenders beaten (48) - impressive.

Kinghorn the only player whose stats are now measured in kilometres.
Don't mention Rory Hutton. I did once but I think I got away with it.

I don't think Finn Russell was any Finn Russell when he started.

I like the look of Jaco, he tries things, ha has good hands. I get very frustrated that kicking the ball over the touchlne seems to be an issue, but he is not alone in that failing.

Between him, Dunc and the Tovenator we have a bit of depth, I think, as long as Jason signs up for more.

Is Tovey not likely to be a goner with Hickey arriving next season?

I had forgotten/overlooked Hickey,

There is also our Rugby League Wunderkind, McLelland, too

I hope Tovey doesn't go, I like him as a player, but I guess it's all down to how he sees his place in the team and vice versa

He's unbelievable. I'm torn over whether I want him to make the Scotland squad but that's me being selfish!

I thought Lay did well all things considered. Got stuck in around the pitch with a good few tackles and carries. I'm assuming he won't have had the same quality of S&C we can offer him so he could be a keeper.
