Nice one! I'd have that guy on something that looks more like a life assurance policy rather than a contract. Really interesting that they are picking off important players with another full year left on their contracts and extending them now. Another welcome change from the past.
Bill Mata. The second coming?

Particulary in the case of VDM and Kinghorn, these are better then a new signing. Gives good continuity to the squad for the next few years and 3 of our most exciting players signed up.

I would imaging hefty wage hikes for each of them too.

Probably for VDM and Kinghorn, probably not for Hoyland who had to fight very hard to comeback in the 23 and to earn just one more year of contract.
Anyaway, that's probably our back-three settled for next year with each position doubled.

Presumably that means VDM will be nearing Scotland-qualified status when his contract comes up for renewal?

Good news on all three re-signings

Solid business, and they know what the regime's going to be like .

Thought VDM played U20 for the Boks. Is that not their official 2nd side and hence is he not tied?

It was more complicated than that. I think a player was only tied if the opposition were also an official 2nd side, so SA u20s against Wales u20s would count, but SA u20s against Scotland u20s wouldn't count.

VDM played against Scotland and Samoa, according to wikipedia.

Yeah, Frenchy is right, he isn't tied to SA and he gets in before the five year rule, too

Wow! Easy when you know eh. Good news being a very different winger from the crop we have in the Scottish set up. Hope he kicks on. Would like to see a bit more of him coming into the line if our game plan permits it. he could cause havoc coming down the 9 / 10 / 12 channels

Denton confirmed to Leicester.
Don't mention Rory Hutton. I did once but I think I got away with it.

We'll need Bradbury to step up as a ball carrier next year.

For pedantry's sake, it's even more complicated than that, because in 2015 they changed the rules so that if you played for the second team in the JWC then you were tied regardless of the opposition. And now they changed it again so that U20s can't be second sides at all.

Nel in training with the Scotland squad (and Fagerson). Would've thought if either was being considered for the England game they would try to get them 30 minutes game time off the bench this weekend.
