Clearly the fear of being rag dolled by Darcy Graham got to him in the end.

They do have a huge amount of talent available still ,but their injuries are focussed on 10, not sure who else they have there but while Peinaar plays well there he doesnt put the wind up you like playing against Cruden might. So a chink in their armoury possibly. They will likely still have far too much for us though.

Scotland star Matt Scott has been named in the Edinburgh backline for his side’s first Heineken Champions Cup fixture in four years.

Edinburgh face former Scotland Coach Vern Cotter's Montpellier side in their first Pool 5 encounter at the GGL Stadium tomorrow afternoon (Saturday 13 October, kick-off 3.15pm BST/ 4.15pm) - live on BT Sport.

The Edinburgh team selection sees three changes - two of those in the back division - with Scott named in midfield and Dougie Fife selected on the wing in the place of the injured Duhan van der Merwe.

Head Coach Richard Cockerill makes just one alteration to the pack as Allan Dell – making his 50th appearance for the club – is selected at loosehead prop.

Ahead of the fixture, Cockerill, said: “It’s going to be a huge test for us mentally and physically -especially for some of our younger players who haven’t played at this intensity.

“We’re not going to force them into an arm wrestle because that’s going to make it tough for us. If we can keep lots of ball, get quick service and put them under pressure, then we’ll create opportunities.

“Our form has been getting there, but we’ve not played anyone near the quality of Montpellier. We’ll go and enjoy ourselves, play with a smile on our faces and give it our best shot.”

Blair Kinghorn is named at fullback, with Darcy Graham – a try-scorer in last weekend’s win over Cheetahs – and Fife named on the flanks.

Scott is joined by outside-centre James Johnstone in midfield, while stand-off Simon Hickey and Henry Pyrgos continue at half-back.

Up front, hooker Stuart McInally captains the side and packs down alongside Dell and the experienced WP Nel.

Scotland duo Grant Gilchrist and Ben Toolis are named in the second row, while Hamish Watson, Magnus Bradbury and Fijian international Bill Mata complete the back-row.

No second row cover again, he must see Bradbury as able to cover there? Or Mata?

Not much to argue with, missing Duhan is a big blow. I might have been tempted to go with Socino in the centre, just a bit more abrasive, Johnston adds a lot in attack though.

Nothing to lose away from home.

I'm really excited.

I think this is the match Blair Kinghorn and Bill Mata announce themselves as serious top level players.

Darcy will be running through their legs, he's our secret weapon! Hope he's been practicing catching crossfield kicks in the in-goal area this week, I expect they'll be testing him with those.

Everyone knows this is a monster test for us, I just hope we come through it relatively unscathed. By this I mean avoiding a hammering of confidence-damaging proportions, and not picking up any serious injuries. Cockers talked a lot last season about earning the respect of the opposition, and I hope we manage to do that. Anything else is a bonus.

Weegies lost out there last season but troubled them defensively. Nadolo was the big difference getting one on ones with Semour and a run up at him. Hard to defend a steam ole of a big man at pace like that. He is out but Edin can play a variation of the same trick with Graham. Ball wide quickly and get him a one on one in space, I'd back him. do it once early and they will load their defence to prevent a repeat - spaces elsewhere. Now, if only there was a way to manufacture that one on one

Weird one as it wasn't really a cross kick, Pyrgos gambled to cover ground and Pienaar landed it short.

Kinghorn with an awful tackle attempt.

A pretty open game.

SteveWalsh first and last 10, good middle 20 from us.

Individual errors killing us

Pack doing well in set piece

They seem to be getting away with driving miles beyond the ruck.

Montpellier will get BP try, we are not playing great but not out of it must get next score though.

Interesting

We do a lot of good stuff but our ability to get over the line or even get 3 when in the 22 is just not good enough.
