Fife - Where's best?

Postby djphilp on Mon Oct 04, 2010 9:28 pm

So I'm doing a bit of research and would like the opinions of all you Fifers that frequent the site,

Which city/town/village in West and Central Fife is the nicest/best?

Up there probably Aberdour, tradional, station, pubs, shops but at a premium..
Worst Ballingery - the germans could have done us a favour in the second world war but didn't unfortunately.

Depends what you are looking for, if it's a house try between Dunfermline and Kincardine as you need a car anyway, Limekilns / Culross area can have quite nice bits.

Kinda a like asking whether it's better to be shot or stabbed

Nice one!

Believe it or not, there are some nice places, as a general rule avoid any of the old mining towns/villages. As Oldsalt says, anywhere along the coast from Aberdour to Culross is pretty good (although you either love or hate Dalgety Bay). I reckon North Queensferry is pretty good, nice little village, 18 minutes from Haymarket by train.

After Dunfermline (obviously), I would agree that it's probably Aberdour, Culross and Limekilns in that order. NQ has its moments too - The Wee Restaurant is very good.

Depends what you're looking for and why you're looking for it.

Go for the golden fringe rather than the beggar's mantle ;) Up the coast is fine until the Levenmouth area, then skip Leven/Methil and starting from Lundin Links/Largo it's nice again. North East Fife is the best part, West and Central are pretty much SteveWalsh.
