Meanwhile Edinburgh's 24-7 victory over Glasgow at Whitecraigs last night suggested that the capital side may have more strength in depth than their rivals going into the season. With both sides making substantial changes after their weekend meetings with English opposition, Edinburgh took the lead through the boot of Duncan Hodge, the stand off going on to slotting four kicks from four attempts. Glasgow scored the game's first try as Rory Lamont powered clear, but touchdowns from Ben Cairns and Grant Anderson put Edinburgh 17-7 up at the half-way mark. Dave Hewitt claimed the third after the break.
