Edinburgh Academy Players - 19th/20th January
Steven Lawrie retains the No 2 shirt for Edinburgh after his first start of the season last week in Edinburgh Rugby's Heineken Cup game against Leinster. With Steven Turnbull gaining his first taste of European Cup Rugby last week, both he and Andrew Easson are retained in the squad and will start the game from the bench. Along with Stevie, Steven and Andrew, Innes Brown deservedly earns his first opportunity to be part of Edinburgh's match day squad.
With the Scottish Hydro Electric Cup taking place this weekend, only a further two of Edinburgh Rugby's Apprentices are in action, with Dundee HSFP. Cammy Ferguson and Alan Dymock have their first chance to play at Milntown, home of Langholm RFC. Although three leagues above, it will be a challenging afternoon for the pair.
Watsonians duo of Kyle Traynor and Murray Bringhurst have a free weekend as their potential opponents have yet to be established. They will play either Marr or McLaren FP or Millbrae depending on the outcome of those respective matches.
Stewart's Melville take the opportunity to rest David McCall, when they have the difficult task of travelling through to Ardrossan Accies for their Cup tie. Likewise Dunfermline are resting Fraser McKenzie in their Cup tie against Annan.
