My match column for tonights game-

I understand the changes. The league has to be our priority I'd say but this side could surprise us. Hopefully in a good way.

Great article-as ever. And I too have a feeling that, with nothing much to lose,we might just surrpise a few tonight.Edinburgh certainly have a very good record against French teams in Europe.
Oh,and as I posted elsewhere Blair K is indeed lining up for a debut tomorrow for Toulouse against Cardiff!

He’s the joker in the squad, he has bad games, and he has shockers, could he be caught under a ruck/maul in the first couple of minutes and have to go off?

Well 3 back at the end but we’re having difficulty once near their 22. Looks to me like Ben does see them diving in at the side at breakdowns.

Sowakula is some unit, not many knock DVDM back on their own.

Competing ok, defence/breakdown except for 5mins was pretty good.

Attack hampered by errors at key moments and not really created much.

Cliche but need to score first second half

Haha well I actually think a decent performance against a good opposition.

I know the head contact stuff has wound back from RWC but there was some seriously iffy shots in there.

Looked a bit short of ideas in attack and the number of errors in the red zone particularly lineout was costly.

Sheil added zip, thought Boyle made an impact as well off bench.

Edit: strong finish from goosen as well, free of injury we are seeing his quality this season

Never really got going to threaten, they were quick to flatten any attack, although maybe often in at side or off feet, 10 and 15 positions worked well as did 14 when given a chance. BW was usual, didn’t see things relying on TMO or just ignoring things. Ah well. Could be the French were just too good for us of course.

I think Scott is more a fullback who can play 10 rather than the other way round (eg his performance at 15 v Dragons was much more assured.Last night very good under the high ball) Mind you how many games has he actually played at 10 since leaving school 4 years ago-whether U20,Super 6,Premiership or Edin A?
I thought the penalty given against us after a scrum awarded to us on their 5 metre line when we would have had a great chance to equalize-it was 17-10 at the time- was definitive.seemed dubious decision to me and after that we rather faded out despite Goosen's try.
