JPR-and the Gloucester match tonight.

It would be good if Edinburgh were to observe a minutes silence before tonight's match.
Not only was JPR (Williams) a true icon of our game but remarkably he played his first and last internationals-1969 and 1981- both at Murrayfield. As,I believe,a good friend of ( his fellow 1974 Lions) Edinburgh Chairman (?) Andy Irvine hopefully something is in place for this.

Healy's goal kicking isn't good enough.

He started season well enough, everything appears to be on the slide at present.

Gloucester were poor offered very little in attack but our accuracy was poor again and did not trouble them too much...feels same every match.

Out attacking shape disintegrates too quickly. We will need a rethink even more so once mata goes as he ran himself into ground again tonight with some really hard yards.

On today's showing Kinghorn still scotlands second best 10.

Nor his decision making.

Good things about the game tonight:
- We finally went to the Uhuru Rum stand - lovely people, great mulled rum cocktails
- We like the new reuseable beer cups (having missed the Castres game - thanks, ScotRail).
- Finally tried the Bockwurst - very good

Bad things about the game tonight:
- The Rugby
- Refereeing

On balance, this is not going well.

Brainless box kicking exercise... Everyone too long... save time & energy... pass ball to opposition... same result

Great atmosphere n support of a scrappy match. Really frustrating watch . Why was Duhan rested ? He is a winger ! Notwithstanding our misfortune to lose Goosen our attack stuttered with no shortage of possession. We had no decoy plays that opened up space despite the pace and evident talent in our backs. We also need to work on being more alert in our support of big ball carriers like Big Bill and Young . To me it’s coaching details that need work .

Watching TV coverage of match was puzzled by the spotlight on Matt Currie’s prospects for six nations . A fine player but I am not sure he is Edinburghs’s best 12 let alone Scotland . Lang and Dean every time for me as options at 12 the lattter’s absence from selection continues to a bit of a mystery to a few of us as he does not appear to be injured.

Currie is a better 13 than a 12 anyway, but I too was surprised about 6N speculation for him. I suppose stranger things have happened and Toonie might want to see him in camp - it would be Currie rather than the other two simply because Currie is younger and may be seen to have potential to develop.
But quite honestly I will be very surprised if any Edin centre gets near the 6N squad. When you look at the other options, its hardly calling out for anyone from an Edinburgh midfield that has never convinced bar the odd spark

Can't see it either, he is having a good season but Scotland are not short of centre options with redpath, Hutchinson, macdowal all playing well cant see past a couple of them woth jones and tuipolotu.

I think both Currie and Bennett are better at 13 playing them both does not feel like we have the balance right in midfield. I prefer lang or Dean at 12.

Currie is very much a 13 and in other seasons might have made the 6N training squad (but too much competition at present).
He's really only playing 12 as Lang had been injured.I suspect on friday Lang was on the bench partly yo ease him back after injury and also as he was covering 10.I agree though that Dean is a better 12.
Looks like Bennett took a bad knock on saturday so imaginge Currie and Lang will start on Friday night with Dean on the bench. (incidentally all of Paterson,Graham and Boffelli took knocks on Friday night so just as well VDM will be back in the mix after his SA break.)

Just to add on Currie , I think he will prove to be a class act in years to come but at 13 . His defence lines are slso strong in that channel. Bennet is electric when on form and he has been a bit more consistent this season the Leinster match aside when our midfield was awful . My Scotland picks would be between Redpath and Hutchinson at 12 with Tuipolutu or Harris at 13 . Huw Jones on bench and Mcdowall as 24 th man or bench.
