Presumably Heally is playing to a game plan though, while it looks like he is too flat I don't think our ruck speed is good enough so defences always seem on top of our midfield, or 9 takes pace out of game, again presumably a pretty conservative game plan.

As Doedin noted Heally is a big guy ith a bit of pace I think we can afford to have our backs deeper and if the play is not on he has a big boot to clear downfield.

Will be interesting to see how we approach the SA games. Could do with a few points from the trip to keep us in the running for top8 and play offs.

Healy does seem to be playing to orders. But we also aren't playing any other playmakers in the back line, Kinghorn was great for that, but its not Boffs game. Lang used to do that for Quins but never really seen him do that for Edinburgh.

We have very little pattern, no depth and no waves of attack, just throwing it out and our centres are faced with a brick wall. Maybe we are just keeping our powder dry for the play offs!!??

We won , conditions were difficult with wicked crosswinds and greasy ball so let’s focus on positives . Ospreys are in form and their combination of youth and experience is very well coached and cohesive . One point I would be critical is our response to Ospreys excellent line speed . We weren’t reading it and or responding with more evasion at 9/10/12 . A couple of times it offered us opportunity to change point of attack and expose space in their defence . Matas break leading to the try was an example where a hole opened up . Dean appeared to spot a similar hole for Cherry but his pass was loose( one of the rare touches he had on the ball ) .

Hopeful that South African trip will give the coaches and players an opportunity to fine tune the attack as other elements of our forward game look to be improving.

It will be interesting to see who we take to South Africa. From memory we split the returning players last year and brought some back immeidatley who then had a couple of weeks off when the others came back.

We dont have many who have had a huge workload of minutes so far in the 6n. Schoeman & Gilcho probably played the most, with the likes of Ritchie potentially clocking up a few more in the coming games. Duhan may fancy trip to SA and have weeks off when we are going to Wales!

Wil be two tough games, but we should be looking to beat the Sharks and Stormers shoudl be a tight game which we coudl sneak, although history suggests winning over there is not that common. After that we have a decent run in, Benneton and Munster may well be shoot outs but at least we are at home.

VDM has played every minute so far (ok apart from late yellow card of course!) After successive away trips to Rome and Dublin I can't see any of him,Schoemann,Ritchie or Gilchrist being taken.Healy,Young and Sebastian will go and ,possibly,Skinner and Ashmann. Its a great help that Goosen and Muncaster are now back and it looked like Hodgson was off the injured list so Skinner might also be kept at home.
The elephant in the room is the fair possibility of having to go straight back to SA to play Sharks again if we beat Bayonne.Utterly ludicrous but be a great test for the coach as to how he can balance selections. There's a lot of rugby to go particularly if we stay in the Challenge Cup and make the play offs.
If we can take points from the Sharks game I'd be happy.Doubt we'll get any further in the play offs once we have to face the likes of Leinster/Bulls but the carrot for the top 8 is a place in next season's Champions Cup.

We have quite a mixed run-in league wise and top8 could still be a stretch. We may well rue our lack of bonus points.

We are currently 6pts behind bulls/Glasgow but have same win/loss record and equal points with Munster who have won 2 fewer games.

Or one loss at home we should have won.
