6Ns squad

Good to see a number of our forwards in the Scotland 6Ns squad, especially Douglas and McConnell. However only two Edinburgh backs in the squad - Darcy and VdM. Inuries might not have helped but that is pretty depressing given we only have two pro teams!

And VdM is lucky to be there given his current form.

I agree, although tbf he's clearly been struggling with an injury - and there's the small matter of who he's been playing outside . . . Darcy is clearly trying too hard to make something of the meagre service to him. Really on form there's no argument about Steyn starting, and indeed Dobie - if he doesn't start at 9.

Paterson and Currie are the only two of our backs in with a shout outwith Duhan and Darcy at present. Currie is up against a really strong group of centres even if we was fit and i am not sure being in the ER backline is the place to push his case. Paterson if he had more games this season may well have nudged DVDM out.

Our players always look better in the Scotland environment, Darcy and Duhan are top try scorers for a reason and i don't buy anyone would have scored the tries they have, still cant see both making the match day 23s and could easily be neither.

Sort of get Townsends proven players argument for the 6N but it then makes the lack of exposure for Hiddleston etc in Autumn even more odd. The USA game while not competitive was still a chance and would have allowed more younger players wider squad exposure as well.

TBF the two hookers for the USA game were Paddy Harrison & Harri Morris. And it was pre Hiddlestone doing so well in particularly the European games. But he's now enhanced his reputation to the stage where he should really be in the squad at the very least.

Hiddlestone was in match day squads 19 times previous season, starting 9.also had played Champs cup v exeter and starred. Morris had played I think one pro game (on the flank) and zero pro games at hooker before being capped ahead of Hiddlestone.
Club loyalties aside that was a total nonsense selection

I agree is probably was, but the ceiling of Morris is much higher than hiddleston i think. Hiddleston will probably alays be the better technical hooker, but nowhere near as dynamic as Morris is. I can see both sides.

There is a wierd narrative building about Glasgow hookers and Scotland. After the Matthew’s saga (although GT was 100% right on that one for me)

Gray, Cherry & Turner are al quite odd selections. I dont think any other Edinburgh players are hard done by not to be selected. Very few have put their hand up.

Well that was a SteveWalsh start! Zero on field leadership.

Dempsey probably the only one to get close to pass marks.

Jordan at 15 looked like someone who spends more time at 10.

Not sure if Cummings is still calling the line but whoever called two long in TonySpreadbury weather when the pressure is already on the lineout is classic Scotland.

Turner with a total braindead YC.

Midfield did nothing.

M Fagerson annonymous, millar-mills SteveWalsh as we know.

I think Ritchie needs to be in as another lineout option.

Townsend needs gone after 6N irrespective of remaining results
