Leinster V Edinburgh - Monday 16th 20:15 KO

Postby The Feral Goat on Thu Nov 12, 2020 3:33 pm

Always a tough away trip to the RDS although hopefully we don't end up with hookers on the wing etc this time.

No players will be released from Scotland so unless any of the injuries have cleared up i cant see there being many if any changes to the 23. Doubt Cockerill would rotate in one of the young props or Sykes for a start either

If Macallum and one of Davidson or Carmichael were back fit that would certainly help beef things a bit and give the bench a more solid feel.

Hugely frustrating that the guys who are here for exactly these games, Mckenzie , Davidson, Hoyland etc are injured when they would be getting the chance to shine.

I see this as a free hit, nothing to lose.

There are some players with a lot to prove, Miller can force his way into a full time contract if he continues his form, Crosbie and Bradbury can put pressure on those ahead of them for Edinburgh and Scotland.

Blain can put forward a case to be included in the first choice 23.

The others should all be relishing their chance to make RC sit up and take notice, it doesn't get any more difficult than Leinster in Dublin, no matter who they select.

I wonder if Davidson or Carmichael might be fit enough for this one. If one of them is, I would retain Hodgson and put Ferreira on the bench - he made a good impact late on against Scarlets.

Other than that, everyone else on the injury list is medium/long-term, so the squad pretty much picks itself.

Aye, as per...

That Harry Byrne is going to be some player.

I'm still not entirely sure why this fixture is in Dublin, given that it was there last season. I'm not saying the result would be much different, but it does seem odd.

It does seem odd, unless you are operating on the assumption that this season will only ever be a Pro12 and there will be a return fixture in the new year. It is sloppy of the ProXX to show their hand in this way, but the end result will be understandable. I can't see there being any SA clubs in the league until the start of 2021-2022.

it is. Couple of odd ones. Seem to have left out of the 23 the 2 young centres who have been really impressive last few games. And have they got 2 Ryan Bairds. or is their latest 2nd row prodigy covering the backs, or have they gone for a 6/2 split with French numbering?

Schoeman needs to engage in the scrum text book and get on the ref's good side. Then he can hammer Bent who has been getting away with murder to look like a professional standard tight head

Same old story, zero attacking shape.

Leinster clinical in attack.

We look a bit out of shape and out of ideas
