v Zebre 23rd January

Postby liveinhope on Thu Jan 21, 2021 11:46 am

I'm interested how the team get to Parma in Italy, presumably tomorrow, given the tiny amount of flights now going from Edinburgh Airport?
Any thoughts-via London? Charter?

Imagine it will be a charter to reduce mixing outside the squad and therefore keep potential transmission low

Hopefully direct charter to Parma which has or had a small airport - might be seasonal of course, in which case charter to Milan or Bologna and coach

If it is still on

I would guess a charter to maintain the integrity of the "bubble". Given Celtics issues even this is frought with danger for the squad having to isolate if we pick up a case .

Thanks.Interesting.Whilst it sounds sensible must be quite a bit more expensive than usual "normal" flights (even if there are any nowadays)
I know they have used charters for European matches but some of the costs have been recouped by filling up space with supporters.Again with the early kick off a charter should enable them to save Saturday night accomodation and be back in Edinburgh all going well by late evening.

Or cheaper - a lot of pilots and planes without much to do. Fuel presumably isn't as much either.

Absolutely, slightly concerning there is still no sign of Darcy or Duhan, from a Scotland point of view as well as Edinburgh.

A more balanced back row I think, I just don't think Bradbury and Mata work in the same back row.

Where is Haining?

He's keeking out there between Berghan and Bradbury.

I was hoping to see Graham and vdMerwe back this week, we won't see much of the latter in an Edinburgh shirt now, I guess.

Whilst we are lucky to have Sau,Blain and farndale as fit wing options concerning from a Scotland perspective that DVDM and graham have been out all this month.Duhan still injured but Graham appears to be off for "personal reasons" for at least three weeks.Obviously not fair to speculate but lets just wish everything is ok with the young man (at the end of the day the rugby aspect is unimportant).

As TH points out Haining on bench he was on the injured list before Christmas but, like contract lengths, injury lists are no more.

(VDW was a 2 year deal apparently)

Doh! See Haining now.

Assume that is a deliberate tactical choice given we have Toolis,(poss injured) Davidson & Ferriera? A big ask for Grahamslaw to scrummage potentially with an underpowered second row behind him.

TOL had the following as injured last week.

Unavailable through injury: Lewis Carmichael, Andrew Davidson, Dan Gamble, Darcy Graham, Damien Hoyland, Murray McCallum, Stuart McInally, Fraser McKenzie, Dan Nutton, Jamie Ritchie, Charlie Savala, George Taylor, Duhan van der Merwe.

Trying to piece together this week has Taylor now fit good news. But Toolis has toe injury and sutherland appears to be out injured as well but not specified what.
