Munster

I wonder if Boffelli is injured or still being rested after so much rugby? Hopefully the latter but big game for Kinghorn to have the kicking duties.
Good to see both sides at full strength-as it should be of course.

looking forward to this one, hope the weather doesn't interfere too much, forecast looking a bit iffy.

Cannot remember if I have ever seen an Edinburgh team just give up like that. Munster played like they always do so it cannot have been a surprise.
Darcy got injured and all the energy went out of the team.
The internationals looked like they had come back 5 mins before kickoff so not sure what the coaching team did all week.

Everything good seemed to go through Dean to begin with him and Graham went off and everything went to SteveWalsh.

Line out, restarts and maul defence SteveWalsh in the Scottish tradition.

Big test for Blair that is back to back honking performances, needs to get us back on track ASAP.

Totally deserved by Munster I'm afraid to say>i think we were even worse than last week.Skill levels went off a cliff as soon as we went behind.Never looked remotely like scoring a point in the 2nd half.Depressing journey home after such high expectations.

Kicking away possession and no or little chase, agree when Dean and Darcy went off it all fell to bits, but that was close to a full strength team, huge crowd but performances like this will make it harder to repeat.

While it was a very strong team I think we missed cherry/rambo and Skinner he has added a fair bit to our pack. Not convinced Mata is back to his best post injury Muncaster has a huge engine.

More importantly boffelli, don't think he misses the 2 cons plus there were a number of pens I would have backed him to knock over and keep the scoreboard ticking.

...however that being said, error count must have been sky high, basics, tackling and composure awol.

I think the last line is the most important, too many errors and very little composure.

We did some nice stuff early on, but when the pressure came on we didnt manage the game at all. Vellacotts passing seemed to be very up and down (too often down), Kinghorn had a decent game, but still the odd error which really kills momentum. I was surprised not to see Shiel come on, not sure why he didnt.

Im a huge fan of Harrison, but a hard lesson for him last night, sure he will learn and grow from it, Cruse looked very good when he came on.

Our forwards generally got bullied for most of the night. That pack should have been good enough to withstand most of that. It was Munster of old though, a big forwards effort.

That was as bad as it gets. We had a near capacity crowd on a friday night. A good start for 20 minutes, flowing rugby with a bit of flair. Then the wheels fell off and there was nothing. A dispiriting night and big question marks around the character of many players

Shiel needs to move to a new club. If he does not get on after that display of passes hitting the ground then he is never getting on.

I do not understand this. As far as I recall, he has looked good every time he has played this season.

Agreed.Should have had Haining on long before the 73minute as well.
Blair's use of substitute was also poor last week at Benetton.

When O’ Donoghue came on for OMahoney, we should have brought on Haining to energise and bring some nitty gritty aggression and help reset the mental and physical drift of our forwards. Don’t accept that Kinghorn was all bad . Clearly in 1st half he had Dean helping pull the strings but he was a bit unlucky with some plays on the margins in the second half with our forward being so untidy in every set piece and not controlling ball. Being pumped basically!
