ER Website

Postby Cammo Gunner on Sun Oct 27, 2024 9:53 pm

Why is the ER website not maintained/updated on matchdays.

No report for the main game vs Ospreys

No report for the 'A' game vs Ealing

It seems that the can't-be-bothereditis has taken hold of the commentary/IT people... Not just the players & coaches...

Less than impressed people...

Presumably someone here still has contact with ER gliteratti or maybe not... :blankstare: :blankstare: :blankstare:

Hadnt really noticed to be honest, Twitter is usually pretty well covered, they certainly do a good job of updating on A games etc on there.

There does seem to be a general malaise though, throughout the club. Have to say my enthusiasm is pretty much shot now, like to think I look on the bright side, but yet another false dawn, its like being in a relationship with a alcoholic who promises they have changed and manages to stay off it for a couple of weeks before falling off the wagon again!

Did they not cut a number of jobs so perhaps less staff available to update both website and socials.

Whilst I admit to being a grumpy old man, I'd be much happier with fewer "macho dreamy" Insta posts on match day, and more effectiveness on the pitch. I'm sick of swiping through 30 cookie-cutter pictures of smiling players arriving at Murrayfield and jerseys hanging on pegs ahead of kick off given the dross that we have to put up with regards the rugby.

There's a saying that we'll all be familiar with which is "You have to earn the right...". I'm not convinced the playing side (coaches, players alike) have earned that right.

Having (fortunately) watched Glasgow's match on Saturday before the Ospreys game difficult to think of one Edinburgh player who would improve the Glasgow 23. Perhaps Schoemann but even Darcy really is well below his best (and he was lucky to be awarded that try against Stormers when he looked to have lost the ball). And watching Kyle Rowe he is miles ahead of Duhan as a "footballer".So many skills allied to his boot and high ball mastery.
Despite all that no doubt Graham,VDM,Schoe,Gilchrist and Ritchie will probably all start against Fiji with Paterson Rae and one of Crosbie or Muncaster on the bench if Matt Fagerson is still under HIA protocols likely on the bench.

( And turning back to Saturday that has to rank as just about the worst game of rugby I've ever seen. Shame on both teams on such a glorious afternoon!)

Agree with your points on Scotland selection . Edinburgh will have a limited number of players as you have mentioned . That could prove to be a blessing . For some of the young lads who have been lucky enough to have been capped and toured quite early in their careers being marginalised on international selection might serve to underline to them that more consistent high standards are required . Not one of the backs looked near international standard on Saturday and likewise some of our more established back row players were way off their levels in attack and breakdown discipline.

There are calls for the coaches to be accountable for change and there is definitely a case for a serious review of Everitt’s team and their motivation and preparation of mindsets away from home particularly. The energy at the Hive has a positive impact on the emotional intensity of the team and maybe that helps paper over the cracks that are so frequently exposed away from home . Whatever any review might conclude down the track , in the interim the players have to get a grip of the situation and drive performance in training and in matches , even if the coaches are the ultimate enablers and selectors .

Our backs are never going to thrive off the quality and speed of ball we are generating. Add to that no apparent attacking structure and we look utter pish a total waste the "talent" we are supposed to have in the back 3 in particular.

I would like to know if we have an attacking framework and if yes what it is, are the players following it?
Healy carried the can for the Lions debacle but we have seen little improvement whoever is playing especially away from home.

While very few or no ER players should be selected for Scotland on form (Muncaster maybe although back row competitive) any that do will almost certainly look miles better playing for Scotland than they do for us. If it was not for injury/Townsends stubbornness/players "unavailable a number should have been omitted and given the kick up the KelvinDeaker they desperately need.

Agree on Muncaster . Also Darcy looked more like himself v Cardiff . Gilchrist is in form and I expect Ritchie will prove a point over the series , Paddy Harrison and Schoeman too. As for the backs I think our centres can count themselves lucky to be in the squad. The Tuipolotu selection is inevitable as coaches will want to assess his potential. He looks promising but arguably far too early to be capped . One can only wonder what the the likes of past uncapped Centres such as James Johnson and Chris Dean must be feeling or James Lang who has not been seriously involved in Squads since his move from Harlequins,

It is a morgue in here, not helped a few months ago when there were issues with logins and I think many just got fed up and out of the habit.

I do post on th Glasgow forum, mainly because I enjoy rugby chat and it gets a bit dull talking to yourself!
