Goosen for me has been our best player.

Ashman been a really good addition and I think will keep getting better.

Cieron Bell for the women's team.

Harry Paterson breakthrough player

Lug if it is still going

Matt Currie in with a shout for breakthrough. First half of the season Healy would have been sweeping the boards here. This is arguably his breakthrough season, certainly the first where he has nailed down a starting slot.

If he hadnt missed a chunk due to injury Crosbie has been very good. Hard to argue with Goosen though, although I would give it to Ali Price just for giggles!

I do think he has bene a good signing though and has played well.

Merryn Gunderson or Alex Stewart for the Women's team. Doing the dirty work - and lots of it - so the flashy ones can have the ball to play with in the first place

Not easy to select a standout for this season as we have lacked consistency. Ashman has impressed , so too WTson of late and Goosen too however, the other backs have performed in fits and starts which may reflect our issues in attack .Mata to me is the player of the year .

Not a lot of competition for the position, it’s been suggested to me that was the plan, if there’d been an alternative we might have played them at 10!

I suppose when we let Kinghorn, Savala and Swiel leave then it pretty much was the only plan we had! Which is very high risk in rugby.

I still think Cammy Scott should have had a chance. I think he looks good when he gets a cameo, but we will never know until he is trusted to play for an extended period.

And utterly crazy.Look what's happened to Finn Russell at Bath.At least his understudy Orlando Bailey has had quite a number of starts and cameos whereas Scott only had one start at ten in an away game in the Challenge Cup and a few minutes (I think in the centre in other games). We'd be in trouble if Healy had a similar medium term injury and Scott has to cover full time.
(In fact I thought he looked better when starting at 15 against the Dragons in the first game of the season.)

i would be pretty comfortable with Scott if Boffeli was playing to cover kicking duties . He may even have a better ball in hand game than Healey . Everitt seems to be a very cautious coach which is understandable given it’s his first season and the pressure is but he does not sub much in the backline . Noted on Saturday he only gave Dean 3 minutes off the bench even though he is a proven quality and it was his 150 th appearance. Must have stuck in the craw a bit that one.

Fair enough, my only slight question is around Ritchie, yes he has finished the season very strongly but it took getting dropped by Scotland to give him the kick up the butt. Think Goosen has performed whole season.
