v Lions

Decent first half, some nice tries.

Second half the game management was sporadic Thompson had a couple of really nice kicks to pin them back then at others time Graham and co tried to run from 10m out from our line.

Left a lot of points out there but good to get the win, will need to be better whoever we play next.

Should add Douglas another strong cameo.

I don't get why everitt is so reluctant to give Cammy Scott game time have not seen anything to suggest he is not capable at this level. Similarly Brown has had what 5mins? From being on the bench at least 2 games.

Decent win against toothless Lions. Defence was very good. However how many line breaks did we make and then butcher the opportunity from 5-10 meters out? Our back 3 were in excellent form and ran riot at times and it was good to see Goosen getting a try and playing so well.

I agree with Goat about the use of the subs, Douglas should have had longer on the pitch, or even started?

Darcy spent the whole of the second half limping/holding his shoulder. Bad player welfare leaving him om. Then Brown came on at 77.30 mins approx-for Goosen!
Not sure why Douglas has only been givren 15 mins last two games. Surely merits 25/30 mins if not starting. Think I read Muncaster may be available next weekend so back row selection will be interesting.I'd go Muncaster/Bradbury/Ritchie with Douglas on the bench.

He replaces Darcy Graham!]

Once the forwards have the ball the seem loathe to let it go wide and give backs a shot, would say we left two- maybe more-tries out there, time to get other players blooded and having game time.

Decent performance but agree we were a couple of tries light, as we have been the last few weeks.

Totally agree on Darcy, we just should take any unnecessary risks with him, that game was won, but it possibly shows where the coaches are confidence wise by leaving him out there.

Great to see Jack Brown get a debut, we need to see more of him. Totally agree on Cammy Scot too, there doesn’t seem to be anything from his playing time to suggest he isn’t good enough to be trusted.

I wasn’t at the game but there js some chat on Facebook about players being booed when they came off? What is that all about? I don’t think anyone had a particularly poor game

There was a collective "Meh!" when Ali Price came on.

And then he scored a great try. I guess it depends which Ali Price we get in a given week.

a good captain, or a good scrum half with eyes would know when to go wide from repeated pick and goes close in. Not for the first time this season didn't happen and easy run ins wide spurned. Who is the captain? Is it the scrum half who butchered a 2 man overlap after Darcy's brilliant break?
I quite like Vellcott's breaks but he is blinkered and a poor decision maker

i think we have done the same with 3 different scrum halves this season, it is a tactical/coaching error.

It also is partly a lack of confidence in the backs, we also dont have a 10 who will be demanding the ball.

The feeling and it very much looks like the forwards train at the HIve and the backs just somewhere else out of the way, or holding the bags, we just arent a team who look like we spend much time coaching backs, we have no real discernable pattern or strike moves, other than bung it to Darcy or occasionally Duhan and hope they do something special. Feels a waste of Lang, Tuipolotu and Currie, not to mention Bennet and Scott who might as well have been on holiday for the past few months.

Yet the first try this week was one of the best constructed and executed first phase strike plays that I have seen in a long iime.
