Price is fine at Montpelier but with Cherry and Ritchie heading to Vannes & Perpignan respectively, one or both will be playing their rugby in French Division 2. With 2 games to go in the regular season, Vannes are bottom of the table on 36 points, Perpignan in 13th on 40 points and Stade in 12th on 41 points. Bottom team automatically relegated and the 12th and 13th placed teams play off for the 2nd relegation place. Vannes host 9th placed Pau and then visit 2nd placed Bordeaux. Perpignan visit 8th placed La Rochelle and then host 1st placed Toulouse, while Stade's run in see them at 6th place Clermont before hosting 5th placed Castres.

Feels like Vannes going down while Stade and Perpignan will play off. Not great given Cherry was the surprise package of Scotland's 6N's and Jamie back to his very best in the Scotland shirt.

there will or should be an exit option clause in Richie's contract covering if Perpignan get relegated. Happened to Huw Jones when he exited Glasgow. Issue is can someone decent pick hm up if he decides ProD2 isn't the best place for him. Hopefully Perpignan stay up - other budgets have already been committed

Bounce of the ball always helps, of course !

Will be interesting to see how he goes in the Glasgow setup, Ulster was a bit of a basket case for significant parts of his tenure. Glasgow assuming Smith stays could be a good step for him.

Ulster were a basket case all of his tenure. The odd game to flatter occasionally - against another Irish province usually. Sound familiar?

Afraid Roddy has to take a fair share of the blame for them

He was forwards coach at Ulster. Glasgow have employed him as a contact/breakdown coach. So a new, also unproven role. I wish him well of course and hope he is a raging success, but it a strange appointment for Glasgow

Freddie Owsley signs for Chinnor in the English Championship ( sorry, "The Champ" as it's now branded   )

I suppose he's now an FP, but Perpignan avoided relegation yesterday so Jamie Ritchie will play Top 14 next season. Hadn't realised Tomasso Allen was there as well.

will be interesting to see how he goes next season, hopefully he can kick on again and really make a name for himself.

Interestingly Venter has been called up by the Springboks. Good for him, but will hugely reduce the chances of us holding on to him past this contract.

Great for him not undeserved either he has been really good for us.

I just hope he does not get a token single cap for SA, not much of a Rassie fan don't find him very trustworthy.

Jamie Campbell also signs for Chinnor. Not aware of any particular Scottish links there, although tbf signing Scots in pairs worked for Napoli !

No sign in the squad vs Barbarians. Im pretty sure i saw him at the weekend at a sponsor event at the Royal Highlans Show, unless im mistaken, it would seem odd for him to be in Edinburgh the week before a game, even if he wasnt in the 23?

Second row Max Loboda joins Caldy in the Championship from Boroughmuir. Not sure if he's ever been seriously looked at by Edinburgh - appears to be a Polish international ?

WP Nel appointed forwards coach at Stirling County. Hopefully the first step on the ladder . . . .
