It was pretty eye bleeding stuff. Forwards seemed ok, but the backs were really toothless, even the forwards didnt seem to give us any go forward.
The speed of ball wasnt helped by Whitehouse allowing a free for all at ruck and maul, but we have to adapt to that, h literally told Jamie Ritchie to put more men into the ruck as he wasnt going to help. We really should have picked up on that and made sure we gave Price more of a platform. Albeit some of the issues were due to the time taken to move the ball away.
Wider out, Lang looked like he was interested in going forward, but there was very little else. We seem to have no realy pattern to our attack, no attempt to disguise where the ball is going and we have too many soft loopy passes, no real zip on them. Kinghorn wasnt perfect at 10 and did throw the odd shocker, but his passing had zip and carrying had intent when at 10, we had neither of those things last night
Our best attacking plan was to put the ball in the air and hope Paterson or Boff got it back for us, which effectily worked in the second half, but if thats the plan then we will be in trouble in a lot of games.
Felt a bit sorry for Chris Dean, he looks all at sea on the wing. Interesting we had Ross McCann at the start of the season, he has been training with Scotland, yet Edinburgh had Dean on a wing and Glasgow had Dobie, its doesnt seem like a good use of resources.
For the next game I think we need to make changes in the backs, Bennet back in, Vellacott at 9 and I would be really tempted with Scott at 10.
