Think de Bruin, mc burney may well be off. Savala still under contract but not liked for whatever reason.

Would imagine a fair bit of budget tied up in Nel, Mata and Price.

Presumably De Bruin's contract runs out in the summer? Otherwise we'd have 5 pretty senior TH's!
Need to replace Mata.Bradbury back would be excellent.
Definitely need a change at centre but depends on length of current contract of course.
Kinghorn was never replaced mid-season.Savala's loan has left us short at FH-yet Healy plays pretty well every minute.Big mistake if he has an injury as no experienced back up.
So a No.8,a reserve stand off and at least one new centre please.

Agree with all of that.

Although Im still not convinced its a reserve stand off we are short of.

Rumours of Ross Thomson coming accross. Quite underwhelming given he is behind Weir in the pecking order at Glasgow. He has had injuries but I dont htink he has shown that he is a potential first choice player in the URC yet. Altthough Glasgow fans seem to rate him.

I get the impression that Franco has built up Duncie’s confidence and thus selecting him regularly and he is performing as a consequence .
We badly need our 10 to up his attacking game or get to work with coaches who can drive improvement. We have gone backwards since the days of Kinghorn for all his foibles. Cammy Scott shows promise but needs game time .

Having you not been listening to a certain Scottish Viaplay pundit, he seems to think the sun shines oot Healeys erse and he can do no wrong on field, I for one think he very wrong and Edinburgh need to sore out the 10 shirt.

I am not sure if it is player or plan. I dont think healy makes many mistakes as an individual but when it comes to game plan i am not sure he fits quite right at present. It is not clear to me if we are playing off 9 or 10 particularly when Price is at 9. Fair enough box kick out of our 22/40 but when in the oppo half we need quicker ball and Healy as 10 to be allowed to call the plays and release the back 3. I think we are too slow to react and go wide hence midfield looks stifled or healy does an up and under or touch kick as he is under pressure due to slow ball.

I think Cockerill would have liked healy as his 10, which is perhaps more daming than praise.

Our squad feels unbalanced to the current ourput if we are going to kick and try and power over invest in the pack rather than having unbelievable back 3 options in VDM, Graham, Goosen, Boffelli and previously Kinghorn playing off scraps.

Above sounds negative but I think we have a core squad of very good players but not getting the best out of them yet.

We need to try replace WP as it is a key position but with Kinghorn and Mata away I would like to see recruitment that indicates maybe we are going in a certain direction at present we are not a power team or a running attacking team.

Healy is a more than decent 10. He's not a Russell or even a Hastings, but he is an excellent kicker and has some attacking ability, but he struggles defensively. I'd hoped that Hastings family connections would have steered him back in our direction rather than Glasgow. I feel he could have dovetailed nicely with Healy, now it looks as if we will be stuck with a Franco reject, possibly Thompson. As a Scottish Internationalist that may be not a bad option. He seems to have been discarded by Glasgow without too much opportunity.
It appears that players who are stifled at Edinburgh, going way back to the likes of Kellock and Ryan Grant went on to flourish at Glasgow. Those coming the other way fall mostly into obscurity. Bennett being an obvious exception and I still have hope that Rae and Price will prove to be decent signings.
Losing to the Sharks today may be the spur we need to push for a top 8 spot and set us up for next season.

I struggle to see how you can type that and still claim that Healy is "more than a decent 10"

I think decent is a good description, he has the potential to be good. Defensively there have been questions, but probably no more than of Hastings who can be a bit of a turnstyle at times too.

I agree though we need more competition, Im not sure Thomson is the answer though. We will effectively have signed Munsters & Glasgows 3rd string 10s to compete to be our main man. It is a bit of a symptom of where we are. But it does feel like an area where we are really light on quality. The Savala situation is still quite odd, obviously neither he nor Scott are going to get a chance under Everitt.

Is Savala still on loan to Northampton? i thought that would have ended by now.Good enough as a back up but as you say face doesn't seem to fit with Everitt.
De Bruin to Newcastle at end of the season.Clear he would be leaving as we have four other TH's already for next season.

Bit surprised Diamond has taken him on, but maybe he saw something to build on. Good luck to him.

Solid props are hard to come by. Strangely although he was always nominally a tighthead, I always thought he looked better as a loosehead. Not a huge amount around the park though.

Price for at least 1 year.

Think Sheil recently signed another year as well.

Decent group of 9s, assume steele will be off end of season.

Given the lack of injury update about him, Price move to us mid season, etc it would sadly appear Steele's injury has probably ended his professional career? If true then a real shame for him.
