Can we crowdfund for a lineout coach?

Ashman is so good except his throwing stats whether a lineout fail is solely due to throwing is doubtful but sort the lineout and his ceiling is extremely high.

Decent performance, last few matches have been a vast improvement on early season form, could have made season alot more comfortable if we had started as we finished.

Backrow were great today.

Darcy should be on lions tour.

Lang makes a big difference at 12

Thompson looks decent with a bit of confidence and a dominant pack.

Patterson could be very very good if he can stay injury free.

Great solo effort from TFG ! Agree with all of the last post, although I would add that Patterson does need to improve his tackling

Great for Edinburgh to get the top 8 spot and Champions Cup next season. But there's still a long way to go - Ulster were really poor for most of the game, which was overall pretty scrappy. And there's something badly wrong with the lineout - Ashman takes the flak, and no doubt he deserves some of it. But there are many moving parts, and some overall WD - 40 is badly needed. Not sure what the final stats were for Ashman and Harrison.

Interesting that even the bucket of bias that is Steven Ferris ( does he think there's a filter that means he's only heard in Ulster ? ) mentioned the Bath game, where Darcy's poor decision not to contest high balls against Will Muir imo may well have cost him his seat on the plane. Not a good look.

Great play last night by all, at times we seem to go for over complex line outs ‘patterns’ when a simple to the front will do, or over the top to the back but someone knows when to make a run in.
Congratulations to all at the club, it’s been a hard year, not yet over we hope, big thanks to the team and Grant for the wee gathering in front of the Lothian stand after the game, and to all who waited for them.

A big crowd yet the Lothian stand did not seem as packed as previous games ‘sold out’ recently, is the crowd being spread throughout the stadium better, or do I need better deodorant/aftershave?

First pitch invasion last night?

Well played to the guys and I was one who didnt think we would make the top 8 after our poor start to the season. First half was pretty mixed and at times we seemed to lose our confidence and give away some silly penalties resulting in the YCC for Darcy. However the defence stood firm against an Ulster team lacking in any creativity. On penalty try, one conceded due bouncing ball and fumble by the otherwise excellent Goosen and a breakaway try after a dropped ball in attack suggests our defence was otherwise pretty good?

Im not sure what happened mid season but something clicked in the team and we began to play proper rugby again. Some of the guys having very indifferent games seemed to step up - Bradbury being one. He looks like he has lost a bit of bulk and is more mobile and physical again? He was brilliant last night and carried for a full 80 mins plus tackled like a dervish. We have the bones of a decent team but lost too many games to silly mistakes or last minute capitulations. Hopefully we have now got that out of our system going forward?

Graham not going on the Lions Tour is a very poor decision, he would score tries for fun out there. However it might be good for him to get a bit of a rest.

Agree on Bradbury but over a number of seasons now it's clear that the team functions far better when Lang is in the side at 12. Thomson's late season form is not unrelated to Lang's return from injury and I remember during the BK@10 experiment that Blair always found the going a lot easier with Lang outside. I'd get him tied up on a long contract ASAP.

The charge to the playoffs was as exciting as it was surprising. I was really disappointed after the Bath game as it got away from us when we could easily have been in the final had we played as well as we did in the last two games. The Regardless of what anyone says, the Bulls are eminently beatable, even in Pretoria. Since last year's final they have lost to Northampton, Sharks and Stormers at home and they only squeaked passed us. Very difficult, but not impossible.

Agreed and I have said the very same on this site. Lang is a bit of a player and brings the gel to the midfield,
