Glasgow v Edinburgh 20 Dec 1500

Postby The Feral Goat on Tue Dec 16, 2025 5:26 pm

Do we have enough fit backs or will we have backrow/hookers in the back division

Which ER performance will we get the one v Toulon, one v Ospreys or (more likely) a half of each?

Looks like we are down to last backs standing.

Morris, Venter and Douglas should make an impact off the bench but i think tomorrow may be a struggle

What is the point in us having a back division.

Poor discipline and LawrenceBryce all creativity as usual.

Pack did well, defence mostly good.

Back to fairly insipid stuff. Nothing against them personally as players, but we are going nowhere with the half backs we have.

Duhan clearly not fit, looked to be hooked for backing off competing for the ball on the ground.
We juts lack quality in the inside backs, it’s not selection that r possibly even coaching but we have a massively unbalanced squad.

I was thinking Glasgow got the rub if the green for most of tbe game. But Gilchros try was ropey and CH-H was idiotic

Very poor Embra performance yesterday. Does anyone know what our tactics were and how we thought we might score a few tries? No connection whatever between out pack and our strike runners in back 3, nothing, nada! We looked like we were trying to defend for 80mins and hope for a chance off a spilt box kick or cheap penalty. There is no cohesion in the team and no clear direction. Very, very poor.

That all six tries (and the three or so held up) were all scored by forwards sums up the fare on offer. This mastch has been a pretty poor spectacle for years and, once again, despite being a season ticket holder I won't be going to Murrayfield next week. Give me the Hive any day!
Unbelievable that it looks like another three added to our injury list (VDM,Ashmann and O'Connor all presumably unkiely to feature on Saturday)!

Ashman a loss he was very good yesterday.

Back division was largely redundant, not sure we ever managed to pass it wide, we would be as well playing backrowers and hookers from 12-14 but prob need a proper 15 to make sure we kick possession back away to oppo, a forward would likely run it.

Not many got passmarks. Schoeman as always Mr Consistency and Vellacott looked sharp. Surely Douglas must start at SGM if he's fit? We're running out of players, so it could be a case of suck it up and tough out a squeaky win - like last year, but confidence in the coaches and players is almost non-existent. Glasgow were poor and still dominated almost every aspect. Dobie outplaying Darcy on the wing was like the final insult. We've go two of the most dangerous wingers in world rugby, but neither could get involved. Darcy tried, but was in the wrong place at the wrong time too often. Duhan - injured or uninterested?

I have bet a Glasgow pal 10 quid that we will edge it . Glasgow pack will not be as dominant as last week in back row . I also expect Darcy to be more up for it and backs will benefit from James Lang being back , he is not as powerful as Sione or Mcdowall but he can be clever and see and create holes as can Bradbury and Richardson carry through . All that said why on earth is Watson not at least an impact player off the bench ? Explanations required on that one and no politically correct guff please!

Lang being back is good news, easily our best 12 ay present.

VdW and Venter both now out. Lewis wells and mikey jones in.

Wells is a good addition he is good in the air both in attack and defence. Venter a big loss would have handled Z fagerson in the scum. Schoe maybe on for 70+ mins
