Stade Francais vs Edinburgh

Postby shep on Tue Sep 22, 2009 3:14 pm

Hi folks.

I'm aware that a few Edinburgh fans will make the journey to Paris for the match in October and just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Colin Shepherd and I own the only remaining Scottish owned, Scottish pub in Paris. I'll certainly be offering Edinburgh supporters a variety of happy hour deals over the course of that weekend and will be more than happy to offer advice to supporters on good value restaurants, sight seeing trips, museums, clubs etc. It's always great to have Scots in town as the French love us as you are great ambassadors for the country.

If you would like to contact me with any ideas for the weekend, any assistance I can offer you or just to tell me to stop bothering you then please feel free.

Regards

Colin Shepherd

Just ask for "Shep" mate. I look forward to seeing you folks. I have a huge selection of music and I let the customers request songs and keep the atmosphere going. My bar is surrounded by places to eat and is 10 seconds walk from one of Paris' most beautiful and picturesque little squares - Place du Marche Sainte Catherine. Like I said before, if there's any help I can give then don't hesitate to ask.

Most folk have heard of the Auld Alliance so good to see another Scottish pub just around the corner.

The Auld Alliance used to be my bar of choice for many years when it was owned by a good mate of mine Stevie Graham (from South Queensferry). Stevie sold the Auld to a French guy last year and moved to Brittany. The same French guy owns The Thistle and The Highlander in Paris. I bought The Pure Malt after Stevie sold up as I believe that Paris needed a "real" Scottish bar. So far it's working well and I have a great bunch of regulars. Drop in and see what you think.

Arlene, if you need dinner reservations for Friday night then gimme a shout. There is a great little french bistro at a reasonable price, not far from the pub. Be warned that it's easy to eat badly in Paris if you haven't been recommended where to go. Same goes for drink - tourist traps will routinely charge you €9 a pint.

Just a quick note folks. As the kick-off is at 14:30 on Saturday I will be opening the bar at 10:00AM in case there are any thirsty folks out there!

As I stated before, if you have any queries about Paris then give me a shout.

Cheers

Well edinburghpotter here is the location of your hotel :

http://www.pagesjaunes.fr/trouverlespro ... portail=PJ

It's walking distance from the Eiffel Tower and next to Metro Cambronne on Line 6. The 15th is not the most 'happening' of areas (I used to live there) and all of the restaurants around the tower are touristy and over priced. You're best bet is to travel further into the 'centre' of Paris; around 10 minutes on the Metro. There you can find many great, affordable places to eat. I have quite a few guide books in the bar and would be more than happy to help you out if you drop in.

Hope this helps in some way.

Cheers

Spoke to SFSC tonight ion the phone. They are looking forward to our arrival on Saturday. The proposal is for as many to meet up in Les Fontaines (see earlier post for directions etc) and all walk up to the ground together in a very large group (about 5 - 10 min).

I have decided to wear my kilt for the occasion and it would be great to see a few more, the SFSC would like to see that also I think. Anyone up for it?

Kilts - sounds like a good idea - in fact my laddie has been quite insistent on wearing his!

Just a quick note for anyone thinking of popping in to The Pure Malt. I'll be opening at 12:00PM Friday and 10:00AM on Saturday so if you have any questions about restos, sight seeing etc. then don't be afraid to drop by and have a chat.
