Currency Exchange

Visitors from abroad should note that banknotes issued by the Scottish Banks (Bank of Scotland, Royal Bank of Scotland and Clydesdale Bank) cannot generally be exchanged outside the UK. You will therefore have to a) spend them before you go home, b) exchange them here in the UK before you leave or c) swap them for Bank of England notes, which you can exchange back home.

You should also note that £1 notes, whilst still legal tender in Scotland, are not accepted in the rest of the UK.
